Submitted by Julie, a wonderful woman of strength living with cancer.

Hi everyone, I am happy to share my story.

I got married on the June 30th 07 at 8 am in morning it was so cold,

I will start from the beginning, Winton & me had been together for 7 years, then in February I was diagnosed with breast cancer

Had surgery in March as it was aggressive, started Chemo end of March lost my hair after the second treatment, after I had got back from a doctor appointment winton got down on one knee and asked me to marry him?

I checked all the Chinese stars and every other thing to make sure the day would be right. It was the end of a financial year and it was a blue moon. The only thing that was

worrying everyone including winton was that I would be to sick, my oncology nurses kept telling me leave it till your finished, as I was still having chemo .The community groups rotary and lioness helped with food and getting the Rotary Park perfect one of the best gifts was the Mission Beach Rotarians raised funds so I could get a wig that was light as I got headaches a lot .Elma from Bridal Elegance looked after my dress and also made me a jacket as I get cold very quickly. My flowers and my cake was supplied by a special friend. We made it an open wedding to community, friends, family, people bought food my doctor and ambulance officer attended so I knew everything would be Ok .Over 150 turned up it was the coolest and most pristine morning so I got to walk down red carpet and see Winton standing there with tears in his eyes and our 5 daughters I knew that today would be a memory to last a lifetime for me and especially for the ones I love.

Sal Badcock played and sang a Olivia Newton John Song, New Beginning (Olivia wrote this going through breast cancer) and felt the warmth from all the community .Elrae was

my celebrant and Peter Parakas also said a reading (as his wife also passed away from cancer).Cancer touches everyone somehow but by embracing it and not being scared of

it, making every day a new beginning the pain and the treatment you go through will be worth it .It is all ways in the back of your mind that it might return or maybe there wont be a tomorrow, but always make the most of today. My wedding day was the Most beautiful Day when I got to hear my daughter sing for me and see my baby twin grandsons carry

rose petals family is so important .My advice to Brides don’t spend heaps of money ,don’t be worried about family matters just make your wedding a new beginning with the one you love.
